Family Volunteer Day

The old adage says, “it takes a village to raise a child.” Well, it takes a community to protect the oceans!

Mystic Aquarium invites local families to join us for a day of volunteering.

Mystic Aquarium’s mission is to inspire others to care for and protect our ocean planet through conservation, education and research. And, that means creating an engaging environment for learning and for taking action. On Saturday, October 28 from 9am to 12pm, Mystic Aquarium has hands-on, indoor/outdoor volunteer opportunities available for families with children ages 10+.

Lend a helping hand to Mystic Aquarium! Tasks include cleaning and organizing, special event activities and so much more.

Oceans need protecting! Kids need volunteer hours! Parents want strong family values! Everyone needs a day at the Aquarium! Mystic Aquarium is proud to offer volunteer opportunities for the entire family on Saturday, October 28. One adult per two (2) children please.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore Mystic Aquarium for the remainder of the day.

Questions? Please contact our volunteer office at 860.572.5955, ext. 209.

HYPE Habitat for Humanity Build

The Community Involvement Committee is excited to once again volunteer with Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity! This hands on volunteer experience is a full day event at a local build site. Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary! This is a HYPE member exclusive opportunity, and space is extremely limited. Priority will be given to those who have not participated in a HYPE Habitat Build before. If you would like to register, please email HYPE Executive Director Kim Bishop at kbishop@metrohartford.com .
