Oktoberfest Cook Off and Beer Tasting

The Social Events Committee invites you to join them for their Oktoberfest Cook Off and Beer Tasting! The committee is getting into the fall spirit and introducing members, and non-members, to Germany’s festive cuisine and popular beer.

During this event, attendees will be split into groups and assigned a dish to prepare with ample room for creativity in preparation and presenation. At the conclusion of the cooking portion of the class, the group will taste all the dishes prepared. Thomas Hooker Brewery will also be there to pair each dish with a beer tasting!

Each attendee will be provided a recipe packet with some insight into German Cooking. A cash bar will be available as well.

There is a parking lot for your use, and street parking is free after 6:00PM.

Registration closes Sunday, October at 11:00PM

HYPE Habitat Build

The Community Involvement Committee is excited to once again volunteer with Hartford Habitat for Humanity! This hands on volunteer experience is a full day event at a local build site. Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

All the equipment and safety gear you need for the day is provided and no previous experience is necessary! This is a HYPE member exclusive opportunity, and space is extremely limited. If you would like to register, please email HYPE Deputy Director Kim Lundy at klundy@metrohartford.com.
